The American Society of Mechanical Engineering strives to help build the chassis of a car to be a manufacturing experience for engineering students in the Grove School of Engineering that they would otherwise be unable to participate in aside from a personal project or internship off campus. These items will be used to manufacture the frame for a vehicle. This will allow students to have hands-on experience and see the realization of a completed design and how CAD decisions are brought to life. This event is related to the college since ASME is under the Grove School of Engineering, and will allow students from the Grove School of Engineering to learn about automotive engineering. The manufacturing process is very educational and members will have the opportunity to see how different manufacturing methods are used in a safe and practical manner. This item/service will help introduce automotive engineering and manufacturing to the students. Through previous years, we have attempted to run through lecture slides and orientation to give students a better understanding of the general processes and results, but for the most part, participants would still be puzzled. We believe that being able to participate in a live demonstration will garner engagement and interest in the manufacturing processes that engineering involves.
