About Us
Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) is dedicated to increasing awareness of mass atrocities and severe human rights violations around the world. PHR is a national nonprofit organization that believes in using the unique skills and credibility of health professionals to advocate for persecuted health workers, prevent torture, document mass atrocities, and hold those who violate human rights accountable. Our chapter aims to educate, advocate, and fundraise to support causes that represent the mission of PHR as we work towards a more informed, healthy, and peaceful world. Our more recent work includes hosting the 2020 PHR National Student Conferenceand the Opioid Summit and Naloxone training for opioid overdose. We will also be hosting the upcoming 2021 COVID-19 vaccine panel discussion, "The COVID-19 Vaccine: Putting an End to the Pandemic." Our chapter's goal is to be informed and inform others of the prevailing issues related to healthcare access and equity as well as to advocate for human rights--specifically focusing on the importance of respecting each individual's human dignity in healthcare and life. Our PHR chapter hopes to encourage people to reach out and be involved in efforts to preserve the human rights and health experiences of people, especially those in vulnerable situations or those from underserved communities
