Bengali New Year, known as Pohela Boishakh, is a vibrant and culturally rich celebration marking the first day of the Bengali calendar. Observed on April 14 (Bangladesh) and April 15 (West Bengal, India), it is a time of joy, new beginnings, and community festivities. People dress in traditional attire, enjoy parades (Mangal Shobhajatra), folk music, and festive fairs, and indulge in delicious Bengali cuisine, including panta bhat and hilsa fish. The day symbolizes unity, prosperity, and a fresh start for all.
