Angie Guerrero

President

I am in my third year at CCNY, majoring in Urban Planning with a concentration in Disability Studies and Art. I decided to join the club because I wanted to provide others with the opportunity to connect or reconnect with nature, just as I had been given by the Outdoors Project two years ago.

As one of the CCNY Outdoors Club leaders, my most enjoyable moments include working closely with the team, seeing participants enjoy and socialize during our outdoor activities, and having the privilege to collaborate with other school clubs to offer our club members unique and enriching events.

Richard Perez

Vice-President

As a Psychology major with aspirations for graduate studies in Social Work, I am dedicated to advancing advocacy and activism for the rights of disabled individuals. I also serve as the DEI coordinator, committed to making our nature-based activities accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. Being legally blind, I have experienced firsthand the transformative gift of engaging with the natural world, a possibility I once thought out of reach until The Outdoors Project under the CCNY President's Office opened this door for me.

Outside my academic pursuits, I relish activities such as woodland walks, climbing, swimming, and kayaking. As vice president of the Outdoors Club, I value collaborating with like-minded peers, exploring new locales, and championing the conservation and enjoyment of our natural landscapes.

As a returning student, I recently completed a dual-degree program, earning both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics. I've always loved staying active — playing sports when I was younger, and more recently, enjoying hiking and cycling. My appreciation for the outdoors began with exploring my neighborhood and uncovering hidden pockets of nature. Now, I love sharing that passion through the CCNY Outdoors Club, where I get to connect with others and help create meaningful experiences in nature for the CCNY community.

One of my favorite parts of being involved as a leader in the club is organizing events that check off my NYC bucket list while inviting others to discover them for the first time.

I'm working to complete my graduate degree in Computer Engineering and looking to start the Science Education and Public Engagement program next semester. My academic interests include drone swarms, genetic algorithms, computer imaging, and public safety.

My role on the Outreach team involves learning about and connecting with local organizations to provide unique experiences for the CCNY community. My focus includes collaborating with external organizations to plan events related to the conservation of public lands and educational programming which seeks to instill an appreciation for the great outdoors.

My involvement with the club began in the summer of 2024, when me and another student reactivated the club with the support of The Outdoors Project.

I’m a second-year Computer Science student with a passion for outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking. I joined The Outdoors Club after having an amazing experience at their summer retreat event, where I made lasting friendships and found a sense of belonging. I was so drawn to the community that I wanted to give back and stay connected with nature, which led me to become a part of this beautiful group.

I’m happy to contribute as Social Media Co-Chair and help spread the word about our incredible community!
