Keynote Speaker - Troy Pearley
Troy Pearley may have a resume boasting nearly two decades of achievements in management and sales, but if you ask him about his current role as EVP General Manager of Divine Chocolate his humility is quickly evident as he identifies himself as “a local Brooklyn kid and his team working to change the lives of farmers.”
Troy joined the Fairtrade chocolate company in 2013, coming in with 15 plus years of experience in premium chocolate sales and was promoted to his current position in 2018. Under his direction, sales at Divine Chocolate have only grown, including new business with regional and national distributors/customers such as Harris Teeter, Meijer, Barnes & Noble, Walgreens, Whole Food Markets Dollar General and UNFI. With in-depth experience of developing the Company’s ‘strategy, he guides his team in building innovative solutions that appeal to retailers and consumers alike. Most recently Troy was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame.
Prior to joining Divine Chocolate, Troy achieved notable success in sales management at Godiva and Ghirardelli. Outside of the chocolate world, he thrived in roles at Odwalla, Pepperidge Farm, and Ralston Purina. As a testament to both his professional skills and dedication to excellence, Troy has earned numerous accolades over the span of his career, including the Sales Person of the Year award at Ghirardelli Chocolate in 2005.
Staying true to his New York roots, Troy attended State University of New York College at Brockport and finished with a B.A. in History and Political Science.
Troy is a leader with impressive credentials, but what makes him stand out in the CPG Industry is his natural sense of empathy, a quality that influenced him to join Divine Chocolate. Divine Chocolate is co-owned by members of Kuapa Kokoo, a co-op of farmers in Ghana supplying 100% of the cocoa found in its chocolate products. “My job affords me an incredible opportunity to make a positive impact on the developing world,” Troy once noted in an interview. “The attention and care that Divine Chocolate places on its relationship to Kuapa Kokoo is truly impressive. I love being a part of that.”

I have been working very closely with the athletic department for the past two years now, doing things such as assisting the athletic director and assistant athletic director with projects and games. I also do photography for most of the teams as well as being a student athlete myself. It’s safe to say I don’t really have my career goals figured out yet. However I do know that I want to purse something in marketing preferably sports marketing as it has my main interest. As cliche as it sounds, my mom is my biggest influence. She’ came from nothing and still found a way to provide for me and my siblings no matter how small. And there isn’t anyway I can repay her for all her sacrifices.

Co-Founder/Co-President - ALPFA CCNY" My career life goals are to work in the Motorsport industry in the business strategy end of a racing team or even in their corporate partnership side. But I also have an interest in strategy management/consulting in the big 4. But as of right now, I am going to chase my MBA after graduating this year! The people who have influenced me the most are my parents. Through their journey of arriving in this country and building a successful business, they have strengthened my perseverance and resilience in the face of life’s challenges. Their faith in Jesus has also shown me that, through it all, He has guided both them and me through every obstacle we have faced.

Event Coordinator for African Student Union 2023-2024" My ultimate goal is to help people through a medical career, with compassion in my practice. Over the next ten years, I aspire to become a skilled medical professional, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Black Women. I hope to specialize in a field that aligns with my passions, allowing me to make meaningful contributions to the progress of healthcare. The person who has influenced me the most is my West African mother. As a strong migrant, she faced the challenges of adapting to a new country, learning a new language, and building a life from the ground up. Despite these obstacles, she remained resilient and determined, always striving to do her best and inspiring me to do the same.

UMAAN mentor 2022-2023 " Become an entrepreneur for three business ventures consisting of Record Label, Publishing Company, and Fashion Store. My goals for 2025 is to drop new music which I’m currently working on, achieve my fitness goal of 185 pounds, publish more books I’m currently working on, showcase more poetry, express more drawings, and master the skill of electric guitar. Progressively grow mentally, emotionally, and physically, and to continue earning more success in my journey with God by my side. A lot of people influenced me in my life like my mother for instance with her strive for greatness no matter the obstacles and always being a goal achiever, but the biggest inspiration In my life is my favorite rapper Tupac Shakur. Reason why is because he work tirelessly in the studio on every musical project he’d create and he won’t stop until it was done. His work ethic is what I always aim to embody when it comes to my own projects I have creatively and I always plan to get them done at a specific time. So, that’s one of my biggest inspirations but my mother is definitely number two.

UMAAN " My life goal is to contribute to making the world better in a meaningful way. I hope to strengthen and gain additional skills and improve my functioning as a leader to be able to extend as much assistance and have a positive impact to those in my circle of influence. There are many that have influenced me and continue to influence me, but, the greatest of those influences and the person that has influenced those people is Prophet Muhammad (pbuh%7D, even though we have never met him. The narrations of his excellence in character and manners, his mercy and forbearance, and his firmness in upholding truth and justice even in the face of great adversity and oppression is what has led the Muslim community to swell to the heights and contain the diversity that it does today and continues to drive ever-increasing acceptance. I hope to embody even just a fraction of the ideal he represents.
